I had to get the temporary visitor date updated and the documents i needed were pretty much the same:
1) Fee receipt
2) I-94
3) Passport with visa
4) I-20
5) SSN Card
I got my license in the post in around a month. The disadvantage of having the temporary visitor status restriction is that you need to go in every year if you are on an F1 visa to get the driver license updated which costs 11$. Sometimes i feel the good old days were the best when a driver license was valid for 6 years.
My husband got his license renewed online coupled with an address change. It was pretty simple and took less than 5 minutes. He got his new license in the post in 3 weeks too. The next time he will need to renew it in person. It costs 25 dollars for a renewal.
